This CD released by ArtistShare on May 13, 2012, the centennial of the birth of composer Gil Evans, is in large part due to the efforts of Ryan Truesdell. He is the first person outside the Evans family to be granted full access to the musical archives.
Gil Evans was pianist, arranger and prolific composer who was associated with Miles Davis and other prominent jazz musicians shaping the jazz idiom. See his extensive biography, discography and filmography on the internet to appreciate his wide-ranging activity, including influencing Jimi Hendrix.
Truesdell has assembled thirty-five of New York’s finest musicians for this recording, including Lewis Nash, Greg Gisbert, Scott Robinson, James Chirillo and Joe Locke.
