Drum Roll, Please: A pat on the back and thanks for a great JazzFest 2019

Greetings friends!

Greetings Jazz Pensacola!

Well, we did it. We had a great jazz festival!

Might have been the best ever….yes, it was.

We had two great days of awesome weather. Our sales were great —merchandise, beverages!

The music was topnotch! Every act from middle school to our national jazz artist…out of the ballpark!

I want to thank all of the volunteers that help to keep this machine running. It was perfect!

As your Jazz Pensacola president, I want to, especially with much love, thank Jazz Pensacola’s fantastic board members.

Dave Schmidt…a champ! Always saves the day! Dustin Bonifay…it would not happen without you! Ali Egan…get ready, it’s getting interesting! John Link…always a savior when it counts. Tom Bell…you have the VIP Tent rocking! Or jazzing! John Eisinger…always keeping us in check. Alice Crann Good…it doesn’t run without you!

It was fun!

Now, stay tuned for more!

Prepare for JazzFest 2019

Do you hear that?

Jazz…..here it is! The 36th Pensacola JazzFest, presented by Jazz Pensacola!

There will be middle, high and college jazz bands! The best of the best from the Gulf Coast. It’s going on this weekend. Bob Sheppard, sax great…this weekend. Food….arts…crafts….kids jazz area….music. This weekend!

Did I mention it is a “Free” festival? Yes, it’s here, this weekend, April 6-7!

Drum Roll, Please: A great, new Student Competition

Greetings!

On March 19 we had our latest Student Jazz Competition! It was an awesome event. Congratulations to all of the wonderful students! The new format, using a monthly Jazz Gumbo slot to present our student competition, worked! The venue gave the students the feeling as if they were playing in more of a “jazz club” environment. Well done!

What’s next? Pensacola JazzFest! Get ready friends … get your blankets, lawn chairs, cameras, sun screen, smiles and ears! Check out the lineup …both days are guaranteed to bring the best of jazz from the region. It will be another event that you do not want to miss.

See you at JazzFest!!!

Drum Roll, Please: Jazz, keeping it alive

Every year, Jazz Pensacola sponsors a Student Jazz Competition, and every year we go through the moves to make it a great success — not only for Jazz Pensacola, but also for the young musicians who are truly reaching the goal of playing jazz in front of an audience.

They are playing themselves. Yes, they are playing standards, but for at least two choruses, they get to shine. They tell us who they are by their note selection … how they feel at that very moment. They are expressing themselves to us in a way that may not ever happen again.

It is priceless, it is history, it is honest. It is jazz!

This is why we do this.

Peace

Despite possible rumors that we were not … guess what? We are! In fact, there was never a doubt! At least not by the ones that matter and make the decisions.

And what a line up! Check the website’s homepage and

It will be another Jazz Pensacola event not to be missed. Do get ready … bring your blanket and lawn chairs April 6 & 7.
