Touring saxophonist with The Rolling Stones, Karl Denson fronts the seven-member jazz/funk/rock group from San Diego, California, “as if he’s preaching the gospel,” according to The Kate, a live music series from CPTV featuring bold performers with something to say. “Merging funk, soul, rock, jazz, blues and more, his energy and spirit are contagious while his songwriting serves a larger message of fellowship—across generations, genders, religions and cultures.”
Denson’s energy and spirit are contagious while his songwriting serves a larger message of fellowship—across generations, genders, religions and cultures. Highly regarded as one of the best live acts on the planet, KDTU distills the sweeping stylistic range of its concert performances into their own authentic sound. Along with KDTU and touring with The Rolling Stones, Denson also holds down his role as a founding member of the seminal funk band The Greyboy Allstars.

Opening Act AC3 gets the stellar evening soaring.

AC3 is comprised of three brothers — Austin Paul Jr., Andrew Conner and Aundre Conner — who started their careers at a very young age. The leader of the band is Austin Paul Jr., a five-time winner of the Apollo Theatre Award in Harlem, New York. He has also performed at the world-famous Carnegie Hall. Andrew and Aundre are twins who currently attend Florida A&M University and have made great strides in the jazz community. The group has performed with significant artists including Gerald Albright and Kenny G. All AC3 members are members of the world-renowned Marching 100. Having traveled across the country, AC3 is now working with Grammy Award-winning producer Mike Will Made It (Michael Len Williams II) and was recently featured on Alicia Keys’ new album “Keys.”
